Whole Body Nutrition

Scottsdale, AZ

Because biological dentistry carefully considers the whole body when it comes to providing oral healthcare, nutrition becomes a key component of treatment.

The food we eat plays an important role in the condition of our teeth. Not only do we use them to break down food but the type of food we eat can coat our teeth if the way we care for our mouths is lacking.

Why Whole Body Nutrition Is Important

Due to the strong link between nutrition and oral care, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics suggests the continuous collaboration between dentists and dieticians in order to promote patient oral health.

Poor nutrition paired with poor oral care can lead to diseases of the mouth. These diseases include tooth decay and gum disease, both of which can be devastating to oral health. While diseases of the mouth are serious enough on their own, they can also contribute to whole-body diseases.

For example, poor oral health is linked to chronic lung issues, heart disease, increased risk of heart attacks, diabetes, and preterm birth in pregnant women.

This is where the study of whole-body nutrition truly shines.

At Scottsdale Family Smiles, Dr. Fattah and his team believe in promoting whole-body health in addition to creating healthy smiles. Rather than treating the mouth as a solitary body part, our office links it to all other aspects of our patients’ lives. From other body systems to lifestyle habits, medical history, and nutrition.

At Scottsdale Family Smiles, Dr. Fattah and his team believe in promoting whole-body health in addition to creating healthy smiles.
When evaluating our patients, our team gathers the information needed to develop an accurate health profile. As such, we determine the soundness of a patient’s diet and discover whether nutritional needs are being met.

This way, we can better assist individuals in improving their oral health as well as helping them meet their holistic needs.

By integrating whole-body nutrition with oral healthcare, we can better treat existing oral health issues as well as preventing future issues from developing. We’re dedicated to providing the most well-rounded service possible.
