Sleep Studies
Sleep disorders can significantly impact your health and quality of life. If you suffer from poor sleep, you may need to undergo a sleep study. Scottsdale Family Smiles offers two types of comprehensive sleep studies to diagnose and manage sleep disorders. Our studies are convenient, can be performed at home, and provide highly accurate results to build effective treatment plans.
WatchPAT
WatchPAT is an advanced FDA cleared home sleep apnea test that provides a simple, non-invasive sleep study to diagnose potential disorders.
- What happens: You’ll wear a wristband, finger, and chest sensor overnight while you sleep to monitor your heart rate, oxygen levels, breathing, and other metrics.
- How it works: The device uses patented technology to collect data on your sleep patterns and detect respiratory events, sleep stages, and sleep/wake status.
- The results: One of our sleep specialists will analyze your results and create a treatment plan based on your diagnosis.
Zmachine
Zmachine Synergy is an FDA cleared, EEG-based sleep staging technology that provides a comprehensive sleep analysis in the comfort of your home.
- What happens: The Zmachine is a portable device that you wear at home while you sleep. It measures various physiological parameters to monitor your sleep quality.
- How it works: It records data on breathing patterns, heart rate, and oxygen levels, body position, and other levels to gain a complete picture of your sleep.
- The results: The advanced sleep report will be used by a board certified sleep physician to make a diagnosis and guide your treatment plan.
Airway Screenings in Scottsdale, AZ
In addition to sleep studies, the Scottsdale Family Smiles team provides comprehensive airway screenings to help diagnose and manage sleep-disordered breathing and side effects. During the screening, one of our clinicians will evaluate:
- Facial structure. Examining the development of the face and the size and shape of the airway to identify any anatomical concerns.
- Oral formations. Assessing the mouth opening, dental alignment, thyromental distance, neck circumference, and Mallampati score to understand airway space and potential obstructions.
- Tongue and swallow functions. Evaluating the size of the tongue and its impact on swallowing to detect any functional issues affecting the airway.
- Sleep monitoring results. Analyzing sleep study results from WatchPAT or Zmachine to make a fully-informed diagnosis and create a tailored treatment plan for sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.
